He started working with “El Italiano” as his personal barber at the age of 14. Even though he was under the protection of this drug trafficker, who also provided for him financially, Erick never abandoned his studies and was a brilliant young man. He graduated with degrees in law and business administration. Having El Italiano’s complete trust, at 22 he becomes the boss, achieving total control of the business and finances for this capo and becoming his number one man. This not being a regular business, Erick requires the help of trustworthy people such as lifelong friend “Leo”. He’s in charge of the organization’s dirty work as requested by Erick and El Italiano. As time goes by, rumors within the authorities that Erick is a gangster and boss of the underworld; and has total control of the city even though this was not completely true - Erick just followed orders from the REAL boss: El Italiano. He became the talk of the town and gained everyone’s respect in the streets, so much that police and the CIC start to investigate him closely. Detective Sanchez becomes obsessed with catching Erick since his brother and nephew had previous problems with the organization. Sanchez is convinced that everything is Erick Montalvo’s fault. After a long investigation without concrete results and a 9 year wait, Sánchez was able to fabricate a case with false evidence to make him face justice and get him locked up.
